Are you our next success story?

The Solertium team has broad experience with all the technologies relevant today.  Our successful projects span many industries and many application types -- a sampling is listed at right.

To assess whether we can help you with your project, the first step is to simply to contact us and share your vision.  (We'll be happy to execute a mutual non-disclosure agreement first, of course.)  If we're not the right fit -- and we'll honestly say so -- the chances are excellent that we can point you in the right direction.

But if we're a good fit to work together, our team can collaborate on your project from scoping to completion and through a full lifecycle of maintenance and support.

Specializations

Although we work on a broad variety of technology projects, we have a few special industry and technology focus areas.  We are especially willing to discuss and undertake projects in these categories:

Industry Focus: Conservation

We work with a number of entities in the conservation sector, and have strong relationships and intimate knowledge of most of the major global conservation technology projects.  We have also made, and continue to make, major contributions-in-kind to the conservation community.  We welcome opportunities to leverage our relationships and experience in support of biodiversity.

Technology Focus: Google

We have extensive experience using Google technologies, especially Google Earth, Google Maps, the Google Web Toolkit (GWT), and Google App Engine.  Our office is powered by Google Apps, and our open source work is hosted on Google Code.  We're surrounded by Google goodness, and happy to help anyone who is interested in making exciting use of Google APIs.  We're especially thrilled to combine our do-gooder inclinations with our Google capabilities, and can offer special pricing to qualified nonprofits working with Google Earth Outreach or other Google outreach programs.

Technology Focus: Restlet

Solertium is an enthusiastic supporter of the Restlet platform, a lightweight means of leveraging REST web service architecture in Java.  We are very pleased to engage in any type of Restlet-related consulting or development.

Limitations

We do have a few firm restrictions on the work opportunities we can accept.  While we don't want to discourage anyone, we feel that honesty demands that we outline our limitations here.

Blind RFPs.  We're sorry, but we do not have the staff to respond to any blindly mailed requests for proposals.  Please correspond or speak with us personally if you are interested in receiving a proposal.

Sealed Bids.  We cannot participate in a competitive sealed bid process unless all bidders have equal access to communications and clarifications regarding the bid documents, and a tabulation of all bids and their scoring is shared with all bidders after the final selection.  Most government and government-sponsored bidding processes enforce this level of transparency.

Work Without A Contract.  A master services agreement spells out the terms and conditions under which we engage to work together.  We can use our contract or your own, but our insurance and our common sense dictate that we cannot undertake any work without a contract ("just invoice me").

Open Labor Contracts.  We usually provide concrete deliverables for fixed bids, to properly incentivize both the seller and the buyer.  Although we do sometimes structure hourly charges for certain activities, we cannot undertake any contract with no deliverables other than the general performance of hourly labor as directed.
